Final Fantasy is game that has been around for as long as there has been Japanese RPG. The first one came out on the Nintendo in 1987 and since then there have been a number of Final Fantasy games going all the way up to 15 with numerous spin-offs and remakes but the best of the lot has to have been Final Fantasy VI.

Released in 1994 for the PlayStation and GameBoy, it is known as Final Fantasy III in the US markets but whatever you wish to call it, you are bound to have fun as it boasts beautiful soundtracks and well-crafted level designs that make it well worth playing.

RPGs are all about the story and while FFVI may not have best story the way that it was delivered more than makes up for what it lacks in originality. Players are taken to a world that was brought to the brink of destruction almost 100 years ago by a war that involved the use of magic. Having seen the devastating power of magic, the people of the world have turned to technology to rebuild their civilizations however with the threat of war looming once again, Emperor Gestahl chooses to revive the use of magic in order to give him an edge over his foes. A rebel faction within his populace sees the danger in Gestahl's actions and set outs to put an end to Gestahl before he brings the world back to the brink of destruction.

This is a simple story of good versus evil that has you rooting for the underdog. Yes, it's been done before and countless times since however the developers took great care in immersing the player into the emotional turmoil that the characters go through as they struggle to defeat their foe in what is the best game in the Final Fantasy franchise.
