Story Mode

Combat in Atone: Heart of the Elder Tree trades the standard melee attacks you get in a typical RPG battle for a rhythm-based system. In order to be successful during combat you need to time your attacks with the music and follow the prompts. Keeping the beat and paying attention to the directions will help you to succeed in your fights which feature a different synth-heavy score for every fight.

Most of the puzzles are obvious but there are somewhere you will need to figure things out. Puzzles usually involve things like remembering symbols that appear in the environment, rearranging jumbled images, and unlocking secret codes. Keep in mind that the difficulty of these puzzles increases as the game progresses and not every puzzle will allow for multiple attempts.
