Below are several hints and tips that will help you progress in the game.

Biomi Resources are Different

It is important to keep in mind the different parts of the landscape when strategizing about how to maximize production in a new biome in Scorchlands. Different parts of the landscape will contain different resources and even if a newly-terraformed environment resembles one that came before it doesn't mean the extraction workflow will be the same.

Place Terraformed Biomes Near Colonies

Make sure when you place terraformed biomes, you position them on your map so they are within the line of sight of as many of your colonies as possible. It is important that you do this as it will ensure that you will be able to easily transfer newly-acquired resources between them with a minimal amount of friction.

Plan your Colony Locations Carefully

In Scorchlands it is far easier to re-plan the layout of your production workflow within individual colonies than it is to re-plan the location and orientation of a colony entirely. This means you should carefully consider the location of your colonies relative both to each other and the resources on the map when planning to build them.

Plan Colonies Around Lasers

Lasers in Scorchlands keep the right materials moving to the right destination without disruption. This means it is essential that you prioritize their continued functionality. Once you start building lasers their location should dictate your colony placement and not vice-versa. This will ensure there are no line-of-sight obstructions, minimizing the need for mirrors.

Try to Prevent Production Bottlenecks from Occurring

Production is ceaseless in Scorchlands, you will not be able to store resources. One resource supply is always being consumed to produce another which means the only way to progress in the game is to find a way to expand your production capacity without creating too many bottlenecks. To prevent bottlenecks from happening it is essential that you keep all of your resources as close to equilibrium as possible.

Don't be Afraid to Build Single-Serve Colonies

Don't be afraid to build a few single-serve colonies which can be optimized to produce a large surplus of a single useful resource that can then be used across your crafting workflow.

Progress through your Tech Tree

It is important that you progress through your tech tree in Scorchlands as doing so will enable you to unlock new biomes to terraform. Spending your tablets on the ability to spawn additional fighters early on will help you defeat higher level enemies. This will result in you being able to obtain the crystals they were protecting and claim nearby scorched lands. These scorched lands can then be transformed into buildable terrain which will reward you with additional population to spend on new colonies.
