What is the Axe used for in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? This Tool is used for gathering wood resources. The tool is needed when hitting trees for them to produce different wood varieties. It’s one of the simpler Tools that you can use.

Axe Tool

If you’re using an Axe, simply press A while you’re in front of a tree. Hit the tree 3 times and you’ll be able to get 3 pieces of wood. The wood that you can get from a tree is reset each day at 6 am.

If you use a plain Axe (which is stronger than a flimsy axe and a Stone axe), the tree will get chopped down after 3 hits and it will be turned to a tree stump. Tree stumps can be used as decorations for sitting down, it also attracts certain Insects and they’ll rest on top of the stump. If you want to avoid chopping trees, use the weaker versions.

Resources obtained

The main resource that you’ll be able to get when using an Axe are wood. You get 3 pieces of wood per tree each day, and the type that you get is random. Here are the types available:

* Wood

* Softwood

* Hardwood

Occasionally, you’ll also get a Wasp’s Nest. However, this will come with a swarm of wasps that will attack you and sting your face. Make sure to have a Net available in case so you can catch the wasp as an extra resource.
