The Top 10 Most Anticipated Games for the 2014/2015 Video Game Season

09. FIFA 15 (23 September EA Sports)

It may seem odd that games like FIFA and Madden - and other annual sports titles with long series histories - are among the most anticipated games each new season, but they are.

Gamers who prefer to play outside the sports genre often point out that they are really just the same game play experience in a new package each time. That may be true to some extent, but there is still more to it than that.

We suspect that this is one of those cases where if you already understand the reason, no explanation is necessary, whereas if you don't, no explanation is possible... But we will make a serious attempt anyway!

FIFA 15 is the next major title in the FIFA series, which has long been heavily judged and anticipated based upon the team rosters for the real-world teams that make up its bread-and-butter foundation. Those rosters and the individual players on them are a heated and highly debated element and make for some interesting reading among the more serious fan boards.

This time around though, it seems that some significant leaks have taken place - including player ratings for what are arguably the most valuable players in the game, and oddly many of those ratings have long-term serious fans crying foul!

Based on the purported leaks a significant number of the players who otherwise are considered to be star players have either been under or overvalued in FIFA 15, which if you don't play the games is actually a pretty serious issue. The heat that is generated has more to do with the fact that the ratings change the effectiveness overall in terms of score and potential value, which is everything in the game.

The most important factor in how you feel about this seems to be what part of the world you live in. Gamers in North America for the most part don't know the difference between Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester - and even when they do, the impact that a wonky rating makes is lost on them. But for the gamers who do know - and for the rest of the world, FIFA 15 is thought to be the best game in the series yet.

Among the improvements and additions are Dynamic Match Presentation featuring localized action and content (think fans actually chanting the correct chant for the team and location for a start), and the Team Management system has been expanded to include up to six different team sheets per club.

Among the most anticipated features is the Living Pitch, the player visuals, and assorted crowd reactions, which combined with the Man-to-Man Battles and improved contact system means that this will be the most realistic player experience ever. But it is not just the game itself that is getting boosts - an aggressive pre-order program makes early adoption profitable!

When you pre-order the standard edition you get 15 free Ultimate Team packs -- and for the Ultimate Edition you get 40 Ultimate Team Packs. Wait until the game is released and you have to pay for those packs, order it early and you get them for free - and considering the advantage that the packs offer in terms of building your ultimate team...

Well let's just say that the game release anticipation may be rivaled by the pre-order anticipation!
