Legend Mode

Legend Mode is the game's main mode since this is where you'll play different scenarios along the storyline and unlock playable Characters in the process. Basically, you have to complete one scenario to unlock the next scenario, and the same time, more characters as you progress in the story. There are also some scenarios where you can only play specific characters.

Before starting a Scenario, you'll be taken to the Warrior Selection screen. This is where you'll select who you want to bring and what weapon you want them to equip. The character and weapon recommended by the game will be marked by a red thumbs up icon. This is just a mere suggestion; you can go against this and select whoever you want to play as.

Free Mode

This mode will allow you to use any character on any scenario. The character-specific collectibles (Heart Containers, Heart Pieces, Skulltulas) will be applicable in this this mode as well.

Adventure Mode

This is a special mode where you can acquire more Heart Containers, powerful new weapons, unlock new warriors, and power up your warrior. Your goal is to access special new areas of the map by winning battles with special rules. Ultimately, you have to find and defeat the Dark Ruler.

The map square where your character can move will depend on the battle rank you have attained on each map square. Higher battle ranks will give you more options. To attain these ranks, you must meet certain requirements for that mission, like the number of enemies you defeat, how quick you can finish a scenario, or how little damage you take. Further details about this mode will be discussed in this guide's separate section.
