Poketch Guide

The Pokemon Watch or the Poketch as it is more commonly known is an electronic feature in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl that has plenty of useful apps that you can use during your adventure. This Poketch guide will tell you everything you need to know about this device.

The Poktetch are watches with touchscreens which you can click to access HMs (Hidden Moves) and apps such as a Step Counter (useful for egg hatching), a Party menu, a Friendship Checker, a Hidden Moves menu, an Item Finder, and even a Marking Map. Unlike 2006's Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl the Poketch in the 2021 remakes Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl is more essential as it is how trainers quickly access HMs (Hidden Moves).

You will be able to get a Poketch early in both Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl when you reach Jubilife City which you can get to by making your way through Route 202 when you leave Twinleaf Town. The following steps will tell you what to do once you are in Jubilife City in order to receive the Poketch.

Step 1:

Make your way to the Trainers School to find Barry, your childhood friend and rival. The Trainers School is located left of the Pokemon Center.

Step 2:

Give Barry the Parcel that his mom gave you in order to recieve a Town Map in return.

Step 3:

Head to the center of Jubilife City once you have the map so that you are approached by the head of the Poketch company. The owner will then ask you to bring him three coupons from three clowns scattered around the city.

Step 4:

Search for the three clowns and answer each of their quiz corrections correctly to get their coupon. See below for the whereabouts of each clown and the answer to their questions.

Step 5:

When you return to the center of Jubilife City with the three coupons and hand them to the owner of the Poketch company you will recieve the Poketch watch.

Where to Find the Clowns

There are three clowns in Jubilife City you need to find and by answering their questions correctly will enable you to obtain a coupon.

Clown #1

You will be able to find the first clown after speaking to the head of the Poketch company by making your way north to the Pokemart that is nearby. The clown can be found just to the right of the stores' door.

Question: 'Does a Pokemon grow by defeating others and gaining Exp. Points?'

Quiz Answer: 'Yes'

Clown #2

Once you have the coupon from the first clown walk a few steps north from the Pokemart and take a left so you reach the Jubilife TV station buiding. You will find the second clown standing in front of the Jumbotron that shows a Clefable.

Question: 'Can a Pokemon hold an item?'

Quiz Answer: 'Yes'

Clown #3

After you have the second coupon in your possession you need to continue left from the TV station and you will find the third and final clown standing in front of the Poketch Offices.

Question: 'Just like Pokemon, do the moves of Pokemon also have types?'

Quiz Answer: 'Yes'

Poketch App Locations

Digital Clock:

Available from the start.

Calculator:

Pedometer:

Available from the start.

Analogue Clock:

Obtained in Celestic Town after speaking to an NPC.

Friendship Checker:

Obtained in Eterna City. Speak to a woman in the Pokecenter.

Memo Pad:

Obtained in Jublife City. Talk to the President of Poketch after getting your first Gym badge.

Marking Map:

Obtained in Jublife City. Speak to the Poketch President after getting your third Gym badge.

Dowsing Machine:

Recieved as a gift from Dawn/Lucas once reaching Route 207.

Berry Checker:

Speak to the Berry Master located on Route 208.

Egg Monitor:

Drop off a Pokemon at the Solaceon Town Nursery. Exit and re-enter the building and speak to the man sitting down.

Coin Flip:

After entering the Grand Lake Hotel, speak to a resident in the lobby.

Calendar:

Found in Sunyshore City after using the Rock Climb Hidden Move to access the house. The NPC will ask you to show him a Pokemon with a 'serious' nature.

How to Remove the Pokétch

If the Pokétch’s appearance bothers you, you can remove it from your screen by long pressing R. You can boot it up again with another quick R press.
