Wuthering Waves features a cooking system that allows players to cook various dishes that can be used for recovering HP or applying buffs that lasts for a while. Thankfully, cooking in the game isn't that tedious and there's even no way that you'll mess up any cooking attempt. In this page, we will quickly discuss how the game's cooking system works and why you should take advantage of it.
You don't really have to go crazy with cooking as it is a permanent feature in the game but it's highly recommended to have some healing and buffing dishes ready at your disposal especially before and during combat. There's also one Daily Activity that requires you to at least cook one dish so you can just do the bare minimum and cook only whenever you have this activity available for some easy points.
Cooking can be done at designated points around the game world. There's also no specific tools or abilities to unlock this feature; it's available for you from the get-go. You can use the kitchen in Panhua's eatery back in the city and other cooking points scattered around the map. They're not marked on the map itself (except for the eatery in the city) but you will see a cooking icon when you're near them so it will be hard to miss. There are cooking points even in hostile areas so use them as necessary during your exploration.
Cooking in the game is very simple and straightforward as well. As long as you know the recipe and you have the required ingredients, you just need to select the dish you want and you'll get the dish itself. If you have selected a Cooking Assistant (see below), you might even get a better version of that dish or extra serving for the same amount of ingredients.
There are certain dishes which you can select specific characters as Cooking Assistants. Upon cooking the dish with the designated Cooking Assistant selected, you might get a special dish or earn higher proficiency points.
Thankfully, you don't need to go through each of your dishes and manually check which characters can be used as a cooking assistant. If you look at the top-right corner of the screen, where the Rover's face is displayed along with the description of the dish, the "switch" icon should be "pulsing", as seen from the screenshot below:
Every dish you cook will award you with Proficiency. Earn enough proficiency points and you'll increase your Chef Level, which unlocks new recipes and awards you with Astrite, Shell Credits, and other items. You can view your Chef Level by clicking the button of the same name in the upper-left corner of the main cooking screen.
