Added:

Wuthering Waves feature an equipment system similar to Genshin Impact's Artifact system or Honkai Star Rail's Relic system. The system is somewhat similar but in Wuthering Waves, you can further increase your characters' stats by equipping them with Echoes - essence of monsters and enemies that can be defeated and collected in the open world. In this guide, we will discuss how this system works and how you can take advantage of it.

What are Sonata Effects

Similar to said artifact and relic systems of the other games, Echo sets in Wuthering Waves activate bonus effects called Sonata Effects. To put it simply, equipping Echoes with the same type (Sonata) will activate Sonata Effects after equipping 2 same-type echoes and a full set of 5 echoes of the same type. When you have a full set, the 2-piece and 5-piece effects become active. Full set effects are usually more potent but you can also opt for two different effects by equipping 2-piece and 3-piece Echoes of the same type as needed.

One thing to remember though is that copies of the same echo don't count towards the activation of Sonata effects. If you don't have enough echoes of the same type, you can still equip identical copies as placeholders and for stat boosts. Phantom Echoes are not counted as well, since they are just practically skins for your echoes.

Sonata Effects List

There are currently nine Sonata Effects in the game that can be identified in three categories: damage boost, heal, and energy regeneration boost. You can review these effects Echoes menu of characters or directly from the Sonata Gallery.

Equipping the right echoes and activating their corresponding Sonata Effect will significantly complement a character's kit. For example, support/ healer characters should have echoes that will activate the Rejuvenating Glow effect. A full set increases the amount of HP they can recover while boosting the entire party's ATK.
